I remember her bringing me up to a truculent and red-faced old gentleman covered all over with orders and ribbons, and hissing into my ear, in a tragic whisper which must have been audible to everybody in the room, the most astonishing details.

Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray, p. 11

<解説>

I remember her bringing me up to a truculent and red-faced old gentleman covered all over with orders and ribbons, and hissing into my ear, in a tragic whisper which must have been audible to everybody in the room, the most astonishing details.

bring O up to ~ で「Oを~のところに連れてくる」。

It is never clear what time the news will end, nor how long the following weather forecast will last. Then comes the longest series of adverts that you will ever have seen in your life before there can be any question of the film starting.

Charles Timoney, A Certain Je Ne Sais Quoi, p.15

解説>

It is never clear what time the news will end, nor how long the following weather forecast will last.

Then comes the longest series of adverts that you will ever have seen in your life before there can be any question of the film starting.

全体は the longest ~ in your life の部分を主語とする MVS の倒置文です。

There is no question of ~(~の可能性はない)というフレーズを変形したものです。

There was no question of his/him cancelling the trip so near the departure date.
(Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary)

Swiss people call [Thurgau] Mostindien, from Most in Swiss German meaning apple juice and the canton being shaped like India, albeit a slightly deformed, pre-independence India.

Diccon Bewes, Swiss Watching: Inside the Land of Milk and Money, p. 223

解説>

Swiss people call [Thurgau] Mostindien, from Most in Swiss German meaning apple juice and the canton being shaped like India, albeit a slightly deformed, pre-independence India.

meaning と being は動名詞で、Most in Swiss German と the canton がそれぞれ動名詞の意味上の主語になっています。
